The McKinney Community Band celebrates American music and patriotic traditions with an evening of music from American composers, Broadway, and plenty of rousing favorites, including Omar Thomas’s “Come Sunday.”

“Cosmic Odyssey” Free Concert

In observance of the total solar eclipse on April 8, the McKinney Community Band is “celebrating” the celestial event on eclipse weekend with a concert filled with music harkening to all things space. On the program are familiar pieces from classic movies, “E.T. The Extraterrestrial” and the Star Wars epic film franchise as well as three movements from Holst’s “The Planets” Suite and more.

As always, McKinney Community Band concerts are free and do not require a ticket or reservation to attend. This concert is made possible in part by a grant from the McKinney Arts Commission and support of donors.

(Note: The band invites you to come in costume if you are a Star Wars or E.T. fan! And make sure to stop in the lobby to take photos with our Star Wars cosplayer friends from the Star Garrison.)

Comfort & Joy: Annual Holiday Concert

Join the McKinney Community Band for an evening of festive holiday music featuring vocals by Miss Fort Worth Cassidy Scott. As always, no ticket is required. We’ll see you there!

Dance Band: Red, White & Big Band Veterans Day Concert & Dance

The McKinney Dance Band performs a salute to veterans and performs music from Glenn Miller and the Andrews Sisters. The Dance Band will be joined by the Boogie Woogie Trio for this performance. Please come join us and enjoy the extra floor space for dancing.

“Musical Promenade” Fall Band Concert

Join the McKinney Community Band for a concert featuring a program of pieces by Mackey, Saint-Saens, Fillmore, and the spotlight piece, “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Mussorgsky. As always, this concert is free with no tickets required.

McKinney Library Jubilee featuring the McKinney Dance Band

The McKinney Dance Band will play music selections from Duke Ellington and Count Basie at the McKinney Library’s Jubilee Black History Month Celebration. The event takes place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with the Dance Band closing out the show starting at 1 p.m.

Dance Band Concert & Dance

Join the McKinney Dance Band for its annual tribute to military personnel who died in the line of duty to the United States military in advance of the Memorial Day holiday. Come ready to tap your feet and even dance to the big band sounds of the musicians and singers of the McKinney Dance Band. As always, no reservations or tickets are required for this free event.
